Why I write and what you will find
"Why do I write?" I ask that question quite a lot of myself. After all, I am no Pulitzer Award winning writer. I am just a Lutheran pastor with something to say. But more importantly, I believe God has something to say through me. As Martin Luther would say, "If it were left up to me I would surely bring it all to ruin." So that's it...nothing fancy...just thoughts, ponderings and reflections all from the heart of a pastor and for the glory of God.
As a pastor I believe one of our "jobs" is to interpret the world through the lens of scripture. Sometimes I see and hear things on TV that needs to be talked about. Sometimes God kicks me in the butt and I feel moved to share my insights. The Holy Spirit moves and acts in mysterious ways and I never get tired of being surprised.
You will find topics in this blog such as:
--Text study: Thoughts on the up coming lectionary texts
--Observations from the world
--Commentary on current events from a Christian perspective
--Personal happenings in my life
--Reflections on Lutheran theology: You can never go wrong with a good dose of Luther.
--Basically...ramblings from the heart of a Lutheran pastor on the prairie of SW MN.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your visit.

I am doing research for a PowerPoint presentation. The title is :Day in the life of a small town pastor. For a few years now our Christian radio stations have co-sponsored a Pastor spouse retreat near Rapid City SD. It is primarily targeting Pastors from more rural communities. The presentation I am working on will be a fundraising tool to help us keep the cost to Pastors going on the retreat to a minimum. The daily struggles sheparding a flock in rural america is very foreign to most in the city. We believe the need to pull away and gather with other Clergy and spouses with similiar struggles and triumphs is helpful. The retreat has grown each year and for the last 2 years HB London has been the keynote speaker of the retreat.
I need some good feed back about the types of issues a small town Pastor faces day to day.
